Professional
development activities will actively engage instructors and will focus on curriculum
development and instructional planning for a carefully sequenced curriculum
that builds on prior learning. The professional development activities for the
2004-2005 program year include workshops, seminars, and conferences designed
for secondary and ROCP instructors to assist in the implementation of the Vision
for Home Economics 2000, and other state and federal initiatives and legislation
such as Goals 2000, School-To-Career, Taking Center Stage, Aiming High, Improving
America's Schools Act, No Child Left Behind, and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational
and Applied Technology Act of 1998. Topics such as integration across disciplines;
implementing career pathways; authentic student assessment; workplace learning;
business and education partnerships; community service; leadership; improving
academic achievement; diversity and technology will be included in the activities.

The Curriculum and Professional Development Project, California State University
Fresno, in cooperation with the Home Economics Careers and Technology Unit,
California Department of Education are pleased to present the schedule of professional
development activities for 2004-2005. The in-service activities are designed
to fulfill the unique needs of the Home Economics Careers and Technology educators
as they implement career pathways focused on standards-based instruction and
assessment. Content experts and business and industry representatives will share
the latest and best strategies and techniques in the field. Whether you are
a new or seasoned professional, you can benefit from the workshops, seminars
and conferences.
