TO: Teachers of California Home Economics Careers and Technology Programs

FROM: Janice DeBenedetti, Consultant
Home Economics Careers and Technology Education

SUBJECT: Home Economics Careers and Technology Program Data Request
and Interactive Web Page for 2007-2008 School Year

Plans are being completed to continue and expand the interactive Home Economics Careers and Technology (HECT) web page at <www.hect.org> that was implemented in the 2001-2002 school year. By using this exclusive web site, teachers will be able to access a database devoted solely to Home Economics Careers and Technology Education in California. This web site enables HECT program instructors to learn about middle and high school programs as well as those offered through an ROCP, and to locate other teachers that teach the same content areas/classes or career pathway programs. We would like for all sites that offer HECT programs to be listed on the data base.

To gain access to the database, instructors must complete and submit a new program data sheet for the 2007-2008 school year by October 31, 2007 to the HECT Headquarters Office in Sacramento at the address or fax number on the attached form. Please be sure to provide information about all of the teachers and courses offered at your site. If there are more teachers than space available on the form, please make copies. Only sites for which teachers have returned current program data forms will be entered into the database. Once program data forms have been received for the 2007-2008 school year, teachers will receive a password for the current year.

The staff and I look forward to receiving data about the program at your site so that we can have an effective and accurate database for HECT programs statewide. Your assistance with the request will enable our staff to respond accurately when program information is requested by legislators, administrators and business and industry.

If you have questions or need further information, please contact the Home Economics Careers and Technology Education Regional Supervisor that serves your area. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and prompt response.
