Certified Programs

The purpose of the statewide Home Economics Careers and Technology (HECT) Program Certification System is to recognize outstanding achievement and foster educational excellence in Home Economics Careers and Technology Education. The program is voluntary and is comprised of three phases:
  Phase I Program Review and Assessment
  Phase II Program Improvement Plan development/Implementation and Modification
  Phase III Validation Review/Certification

Programs that are certified as meeting the "Excellence Criteria" are rated in the following nine areas:

  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Leadership and Citizenship Development
  • Practical Application of Occupational Skills
  • Qualified and Competent Personnel
  • Facilities, Equipment, and Materials
  • Advisory Committee, Community, Business and Industry Involvement
  • Career Guidance
  • Program Promotion
  • Program Accountability and Planning
