Region Goals for 2007-2008: The officer team is planning activities to generate a positive experience for Region 4 members, making this year one of the best for the students who participate in the association program. Region Officer Biographies for 2007-2008: Stephanie DeAnda is a senior at River City High School. Before being elected to the position of Region 4 President, she served a term as the 2006-2007 Region 4 Reporter. Stephanie chose to be a region officer because she wanted to make a difference. Besides Stephanie’s involvement at the region level, she has been her chapter President and Historian, and has competed in both the Interior Design and Salad Preparation competitive events. When Stephanie graduates from high school, she wants to open her own café. Her hobbies are: acting, dancing, and baking. Bridget Deaton, a junior at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp, is in her third year of participation in the California Association FHA-HERO and is currently serving as the Region 4 Vice President. Bridget was her chapter Vice President in 2006-2007, and has participated in the Apparel Construction competitive events for the past two years. Her life goal is to become a second grade teacher. San Juan High School senior, Krisina Kovill, is serving Region 4 as the 2007-2008 Secretary. She felt that being a region officer would help her to learn more about California Association FHA-HERO. Before being elected to the position of Region Secretary, Krisina served her local chapter as the Vice President. She competed in the 2007 State Finals in the category of Appetizers for the Culinary Arts event, and was recognized with the Culinary Arts over-all Best of Show award. Kristina's long-time career goal is to own a restaurant and enjoys cooking, camping, swimming, and hanging out with friends. The 2007-2008 Region 4 Treasurer is San Juan High School student, Ricki Harris. Ricki was involved in FHA-HERO for one year, prior to becoming a candidate for region office. She wants to learn more about the world of work and the California Association FHA-HERO. Ricki’s life goal is to own and operate her own restaurant. She enjoys hanging out with friends, cooking, dancing and going to concerts. A sophomore at San Juan High School, Tabitha Kelly, serves as the Region 4 Historian/Reporter. She wants to be a part of the effort to make the 2007-2008 school year be the best Region 4 has ever experienced. In 2006-2007, Tabitha competed in the Menu Planning and Table Display competitive event, winning second place in the region and third place in the State Finals. Her career goal is to become an actress and singer. She spends her spare time swimming, playing piano, drawing and writing. Region 5:

Region Goals for 2007-2008: The officer team set a goal to improve the readiness for region meetings of both their team, and chapter member participants. Region Officer Biographies for 2007-2008: Emily Mastrolia, a junior at Deer Valley High School, is the President for Region 5. Her first experience with FHA-HERO was at the 2006 Fall Region Meeting, when she was encouraged to attend by her Fashion Design instructor. After that, Emily found that she developed a love for the organization. It is Emily’s desire to become a candidate for FHA-HERO State Office at the 2008 State Leadership Meeting. Emily participated in the Apparel Construction competitive event at the 2007 State Finals. In the future, she hopes to attend that Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing. Emily has been taking ballet classes since she was 2 ˝ years old, and likes to run for recreation. Diandra Silva is serving the California Association FHA-HERO as a Region 5 officer for her second term. This Livermore High School senior is the 2007-2008 Region 5 Vice President. Her personal goals as a region officer are to have fun this year, and to increase pride throughout the organization. She has chosen to be involved in FHA-HERO because she is proud of being involved in an organization that fosters leadership qualities which help individuals develop successful careers. Diandra loves going to the movies, spending time with her friends, baking and keeping up with her Spanish speaking skills. Ella Quezada, a senior at Mt. Diablo High School, chose to become a member of FHA-HERO because she knew it would broaden her horizons. She takes her responsibilities as the Region 5 Secretary, very seriously. It is her goal to help Region 5 become bigger and develop stronger chapters, with more participation at the region level. Ella treasures her high school cheerleading experiences, as well as riding her horses in competition. She loves just being outside, enjoying what nature has to offer. A second-time region officer, and senior from Livermore High School, is the new Region 5 Treasurer, Jennifer Lyons. Jennifer’s involvement in FHA-HERO was strengthened because she observed that the California Association FHA-HERO gives its members an opportunity to become stronger leaders; and it encourages them to explore different career possibilities. Jennifer’s goal for this year’s region officer team is to develop plans for more activities that increase member involvement. Jennifer’s favorite spare-time activity is to hang out with her friends. Mt. Diablo High School junior, Darryl Johnson, is the 2007-2008 Region 5 Historian. She chose to become involved in FHA-HERO because she knew that it would help her become more courageous, and a stronger person, able to set and reach goals. Darryl wants to involve as many students as possible in this year’s FHA-HERO program. She knows that they will benefit, just as she has done. Darryl’s hobbies are: hanging out with friends, cooking, dancing and traveling. The Region 5 Reporter, Beth Chavez, is an experienced region officer, who is serving her second term this year. Beth Chavez, a senior from Mt. Diablo High School, states that, “for as long as I can remember, I have always been trying to be part of something better, different, challenging, something I could be proud of…” And that’s the way she feels about FHA-HERO. Beth is anxious to work with her fellow officers this year, and can’t wait for FHA-HERO events to occur. Beth’s favorite pastimes include being with her family and friends, loving to dance, cheerleading, and playing soccer. Her final words of advice, “Go Region 5!” Region 6:
Region 6 Officers: Russell

Region Goals for 2007-2008: The officers plan to pursue strategies to increase membership numbers within the region and to develop activities which will foster an increase in the number of region officer candidates for the 2008-2009 year. Region 6 officer team also wishes to develop more region pride. Region Officer Biographies for 2007-2008: A four-year active member of the California Association FHA-HERO is Russell Shaw, the Region 6 President. Russell is a senior at Ripon High School. This is Russell’s second term as an officer at the region level of the association. In addition to his commitment to serving the members of FHA-HERO, Russell enjoys actively pursuing his interest in sports and cars. The Region 6 Vice President for the 2007-2008 term is three-year member Heather Wilcox. Heather is active in the Home Economics Careers and Technology program and accompanying FHA-HERO chapter at Sierra High School. Her outside interests are as diverse as dirt biking and sewing. Jessica Taylor, a junior at Ripon High School, serves as the Region 6 Secretary. She has been actively involved in the California Association FHA-HERO for three years. In addition to performing her duties as a region officer in the association, Jessica maintains a unique interest in raising goats. She also enjoys swimming as a summer pastime. Pitman High School senior, Kiranpreet Dhaliwal, provides service to her fellow FHA-HERO members as the 2007-2008 Region 6 Treasurer. Her involvement with the California Association FHA-HERO spans a four-year time period, during which she has maintained active participation and support for the local, region, and state program. Her passions include a love for travel and reading. Liberty High School student, Nikkole Silva, is in her second year as an active member of the California Association FHA-HERO. She is a senior, and serves on the officer team as the Region 6 Historian. She is enthusiastic about creating a pictorial scrapbook for the 2007-2008 year for Region 6. When time permits, Nikkole can be found playing tennis, or shopping. Ariel Renteria, a junior at Pitman High School, is a two-year active member of the California Association FHA-HERO. She is presently performing her duties as the Region 6 Reporter, and is very excited about this honor bestowed upon her by her fellow region members. Ariel typifies many teens with her interests in listening to music and exploring “My Space”. Region 8:

Region Officer Biographies for 2007-2008 Region 8 president, Samantha Velasquez, is a senior at Delano High and has been an active member of FHA-HERO for the past 3 years. Her hobbies include playing softball and volleyball. She enjoys singing, dancing, and shopping. Bethany Stanton is the newly elected Region 8 Vice President. She is a sophomore at Kern Valley High. At school, she plays tennis and golf and belong to a few clubs; Excel, Core-15, and of course FHA-HERO which she is the Historian. Some of her hobbies are scrap booking and shopping. Veronica Parangan is the Region 8 Secretary but she likes to be called Roni. She is a senior at Cesar E. Chavez High School in Delano. She has been a member of FHA-HERO for 2 years and is the school chapter President. Currently she is attending beauty school and plans to further her career in cosmetology. Jaimie Olle, a sophomore at Kern Valley High School in Lake Isabella, is currently serving as your Region 8 Treasure. Besides participating in FHA-HERO, she is also a member of Odyssey of the Mind, Core-15, and Excel. She enjoys soccer, softball, and tennis. In her spare time she likes to read and be with friends. She plans to work to the best of her abilities to do the best job that she can as your Region 8 Treasure. Dolores Rodriquez is your Region 8 Reporter and Historian. Beside being an active member of FHA-HERO she is also involved in the Allied Health Academy at Delano High School. She plays volleyball, basketball, and track. She is a reliable person so you can count on her to get the work done. Region 9:

Region Goals for 2007-2008: The officer team set a goal to improve the readiness for region meetings of both their team, and chapter members, and make every effort to remember the ROTC theme as they “Sail Toward New Horizons” in the upcoming year, and developing a program of work that will provide excellent leadership to the region. Region Officer Biographies for 2007-2008: President Christopher Ayed Dukum is a sophomore at El Camino Real High School. Christopher believes that participation in FHA-HERO helps students to positively build and strengthen character. Christopher’s plans for this coming year as the Region 9 President include mastering public speaking strategies, and developing strong social communication skills. He will be devoting much of his energy toward developing a plan of action to increase membership in Region 9. In his spare time, he likes to play tennis, golf with his friends, and DJ, usually Arabic music. Josh Cruz, a junior at Rowland High School, is presently serving Region 9 as Vice President. He believes that his involvement in FHA-HERO as a region officer will brighten not only his future, but that of the members he serves. He would also like to continue to develop his leadership potential by running for state office in the future. In the future, Josh hopes to become a doctor or a psychologist. If asked to name his favorite pastimes, Josh said watching television, playing tennis, and hanging out with his friends. The Region 9 Secretary is Jacqueline Sanchez, a senior at Banning High School. As a region officer, her desire is to unify the Region 9 chapters so that there will be increased communication among the members. She looks forward to taking on and meeting the many challenges this year will provide. Jacqueline believes that the skills she is learning through her experiences with FHA-HERO will greatly impact her future. Her future goals, after high school graduation, include attending college and majoring in Fashion Design. In her spare time, she enjoys scrap booking, traveling and photography. The Region 9 Treasurer is Ujala Batool, a sophomore at Rowland High School. Ujala strongly believes that being involved in FHA-HERO will set a firm foundation for her future. Ujala wants to become a state officer. She participates in the dance team and color guard. Ujala’s career objectives are quite diverse. She either wants to become a lawyer, or pursue a career as a singer in Pakistan. In her spare time she likes to shop, eat and watch television. Region 9 Historian, Samantha Echeverria, is a junior at Banning High School. She feels that the confidence developed over the course of this year as a region officer will provide her with a strong enough character to achieve success in whatever life challenges she faces. Samantha also belongs to the Banning High School band and drill team, as well as the MATCH Academy (for culinary arts). Upon high school graduation, she hopes to attend the University of California at Santa Barbara. She enjoys hanging out with her friends when she has free time. Banning High School is also home of senior Hugo Zambro, serving as the Region 9 Reporter. Hugo desires to develop ways to create a more positive student perceived image of the California Association FHA-HERO. He wants to make the program more appealing to the average student. Hugo believes that participation in FHA-HERO provides members with an opportunity to learn more about themselves and helps them to become better individuals. Hugo plans to major in Architecture at one of the University of California campuses. His extra-curricular activities at Banning High School include: Cross Country, Advanced Choir and the Senior Council. Hugo also enjoys playing soccer, cooking, going to the gym, and spending time with his family and friends. Region 10:
