#3. Financially fit

  • Plan and present a lesson on saving money to elementary aged students.
  • Hold a fundraiser and then purchase piggy banks to give children so they see how much money they can save in a week.
  • Prepare an exhibit on money saving tips.
  • Develop a presentation on the cost of credit and borrowing money that can be presented in classes or at community centers.
  • Create and distribute pamphlets or brochures on an aspect of financial fitness.
  • Prepare and present a presentation on easy ways to stretch a teenager's allowance.
  • Work with local banks or credit unions to help with their financial awareness programs.
  • Hold a spirit week at your school with each day focusing on making sense of dollars.
  • Coordinate a community financial fair and invite local businesses to prepare booths to teach a variety of financial skills – like budgeting, credit cards, getting out of debt, savings plans, etc.
  • Develop a contest for students to practice saving a percentage of their income – give prizes
