The statewide focus for community service projects are selected every two years by the State Officers. Called state projects thrusts, these topics are based on current issues in society and communities.
They provide an area of emphasis for planning a chapter’s annual program of work and activities. They also serve as topics for the Competitive Recognition Events such as Chapter Exhibit; Community Involvement; Energy and Resource Conservation; Nutrition Education; and Consumer Education. By focusing on these topics, the California Association can make a coordinated impact in providing solutions for societal issues while also raising public awareness of FHA-HERO.

Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia has decided to implement FHA-HERO Friday.
Each Friday the students and advisors will wear their FHA-HERO shirts, classes will work on their chapter degrees, students will run meetings using parliamentary procedures, fund-raisers will be organized, and community service projects will be planned and put into action. Great idea Mt. Whitney!
